A. Objective - Main purpose of the job

Responsible for managing and leading a team of Operations and Maintenance technicians at the new VWIO effluent treatment plant at site. The plant comprises of a mechanically driven evaporation system to treat a dilute waste stream containing mainly sodium nitrate. The concentrated sodium nitrate is tankered off- site for disposal and the condensate recovered for re-use within the works.

B. Knowledge, skills and qualifications

Previous experience in supervisory role
Process / production background
Able to work on own initiative
Minimum ONC/HNC education equivalent
Have worked previously as a process operator or maintenance technician
Desirable - experience of on-site commissioning and trouble-shooting
Desirable - experience of working with large compressors

C. Main tasks

Ensure Safety of the team (incl Assist with safety/environmental audits)
Ability to lead and motivate team of 5 Operations and Maintenance technicians on shift to successfully operate and maintain the new effluent treatment plant a
Liaise with VWIO Operations manager
Be primary day to day link with client site management to ensure issues are dealt with promptly
Assist commission on-site and site acceptance test.
Site budgetary control
Respond to emergency call outs when required

D. Multi-tasking

The site is a small team of 6 people, therefore each team member must be willing to undertake whatever tasks are necessary to run the site, including covering shifts if needed, housekeeping, painting, administration, chemical dosing, running lab tests, taking readings, safety audits etc.

Full training will be provided during plant start up and commissioning
Backup of working for the largest water operator in the world
Hours worked to be as necessary to successfully carry out the role but in any event to be no less than 37 hrs/week?
