Power
The Power industry relies upon ion exchange technology and RO plants for the provision of ultra-pure water for medium and high-pressure water applications. The quality and security of supply required by the Power industry are similar to those found at the water supply companies which Veolia Water owns in the UK.
The supply of raw water to Power stations may vary from saline water at coastal sites to brackish/turbid water inland. The technologies used to handle these types of water are also used in potable water from desalination.
VWIO has the complete set of technologies for all of the classical desalination processes. This is both thermal (distillation technology) and membrane separation techniques. The ability to utilise low grade steam at Power station to drive multi stage flash distillation (MSF) or multi effect distillation (MED) systems. These techniques can be associated with Reverse Osmosis membrane technology in combined cycle plants which utilise available energy from the power station to drive the membrane process when demand is low. This ensures the generating station is kept at its optimum efficiency and maximises the potable water output.
