VWIO provides services within the chemical industry for water, wastewater and process use. Water is treated for feed to high-pressure boilers and softened water is provided for low-pressure boilers and process applications.

Within the sphere of effluent treatment, rotating biological contactor and traditional activated sludge plant with DAF pre-treatment are available from the VWIO range.

An innovative technology within the VWIO portfolio is the treatment of waste alkali from alkalisation reaction process units, where potassium hydroxide is used to neutralise hydrofluoric acid, the resulting potassium fluoride is regenerated. The solution used is a patented "HARDTAC" process, which returns potassium hydroxide for further use and yields calcium fluoride as a by-product. This is then exported from site to manufacturers of hydrofluoric acid.
