Water is used in large quantities in nearly every aspect of the manufacturing process whether for metal preparation, finishing processes or assembly paint lines. Based on incoming water quality and through technical innovation (for example, chemical conditioning, filtration or water softening) VWIO can supply high-purity/ultra-pure water and minimise the intake of potable water by recycling.

Introducing water recycling schemes and dedicated distribution networks within the production area, and/or reusing treated wastewater for cooling towers and boiler feed can bring significant advantages and enhance process competitiveness.

The treatment of wastewater involves accepting corrosive and potentially heavy metal bearing effluent, treating it for recycling and recovering water. The oil and chemicals can be separated and re-used in the manufacturing process.

The techniques used to yield a standard of water suitable to replace raw water intake into the factory site include:
